Contact details from address books, which were generated with the Open Groupware-System SOGo, can be integrated into Mozilla Thunderbird (Version 10.0) without any problems and synchronized automatically. Thunderbird has to be extended with the Add-on “SOGo Connector Thunderbird extension” (version 10.0) thereto. The necessary steps are explained below:
- Download and Install the Add-on “SOGo Connector Thunderbird extension”
- Include a SOGo address book
- Note: Determine the CardDAV URL of SOGo address book
As the first step the add-on “SOGo Connector Thunderbird extension” has to be downloaded and installed subsequently. On the following website http://www.sogo.nu/english/downloads/frontends.html it can be downloaded and buffered in the local system.
To install “SOGo Connector Thunderbird extension” you have to start Thunderbird. In the menu “Extras” the submenu “Add-ons” has to be chosen.
In the dialog box „Add-ons“ you have to click on “Extensions” and then on “Install”.
Here the add-on file “sogo-connector-10.0.xpi” has to be chosen as the file you want to install.
In the dialog box „software installation“ the add-on “sogo-connector-10.0.xpi” needs to be selected. With clicking on “install now” the installation starts, whereby the warning on the trust of the add-on is accepted.
By chosing „Restart Thunderbird“ Thunderbird is going to be restarted and the add-on’s installation is finished.
After the restart of Mozilla Thunderbird switch to address book and add a new remote-address book.
Now the connection needs a logical name. Also the CardDAV-URL has to be entered. How this URL can be if necessary determined is explained in the following paragraph.
After entering the settings for remote address book re-open the address book window, choose the new remote address book and synchronize it.
In some circumstance a popup window is opening where the access must be authenticated. Use therefore the login account for your Open-Groupware account.
Open with your Open-Groupware account your SOGo Webmail-program. Choose in menu “Address book” and select one of your defined contacts. A detail window bout this contact is opening.
The window in the upper part contains a URL. Select and copy it into the clipboard. Open a text editor and insert this URL. Adjust the syntax for the CardDAV URL using in Thunderbird as follow:
